During the 2000/01 season the club, recognising that junior badminton was on a decline, decided to enter into a venture to promote the sport to the juniors within the area. This has been achieved with the help of a grant for £3,375 from the National Lottery's "Awards For All" programme which has enabled the club to purchase all the necessary equipment and train coaches so that local youngsters can now get the opportunity to participate and develop their skills in the sport.
Such was the overwhelming success, this dedicated club for juniors runs as a separate entity from BWBC and is held on Monday nights from 6 - 7.30pm at Swanmore School (age 8 years and up).
Anybody requiring further information should email Jo Hale (jo.hale@hants.gov.uk) or call her on 01489 860753.

Information for parents of Junior Members
Bishop's Waltham Badminton Club is a sociable yet competitive badminton club
which has been established for many years. The club wants to encourage
young people in playing competitive badminton and has a small number of junior
players within its annual membership.
At Bishop's Waltham, we typically have an annual membership of around 30 adult
players over a wide age range. Our annual membership also normally
includes a maximum number of 6 junior players. Like all prospective new
members, juniors have to play over 3 club nights before the committee are able
to decide whether they are of a high enough standard and are acceptable to join
the club. The Bishop's Waltham Junior Badminton Club is run separately from
the main Bishop's Waltham Badminton Club. That club is intended to provide
coaching and development for young people with a range of abilities.
Bishop's Waltham Badminton Club does not routinely provide coaching
although we hope junior players develop their skills by playing with more
experienced players. Currently the club's junior players are older than 12.
The club has one club night a week which runs on a Monday night from 7.00pm –
9.30pm
at the Jubilee Hall, Little Shore Lane, Bishop's Waltham. The club plays
matches against a variety of teams in the Winchester and Southampton area.
Typically matches are between 7.00pm and 10.00pm on a week night but a very small
number of matches can also take place at various times during the weekend.
Junior members may be asked to play for a team or may be asked to play as a
substitute from time to time. If you would like to know exactly when your
child is playing and would like more details about where and when they will be
playing, this can easily be provided to you. Club members tend to share
travel arrangements for away matches and are happy to discuss arrangements with
the parents regarding collection and return of a junior member to the junior
member’s house.
The club is affiliated to Badminton England which enables the club to play in
affiliated leagues and also provides liability insurance to the club.
Badminton England has established a number of policies which each member
club agrees to abide by. These policies include a child protection policy
and diversity policy. Badminton England defines a junior player as one who
is under 18 and this is the definition that we also use.
We produce a monthly email newsletter which your child will receive or which can
also be sent if you would like. If you need any further information
